The National Weather Service said Saturday that the life-threatening and dangerous cold that much of the country is currently experiencing is “potentially life-threatening for stranded travelers, individuals working outdoors, livestock and domestic workers. Pets that can create danger,” he said. ”
The Japan Meteorological Agency says, “If you must travel or go out in nature, be prepared for extreme cold by wearing layers of clothing, covering as much exposed skin as possible, and packing your car with a winter safety kit. In some areas, being outdoors can cause frostbite within minutes.”
According to the NWS, “Blizzard Warnings, Winter Storm Warnings, Winter Weather Advisories, and High Wind Warnings cover the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes Region, Ohio Valley, and parts of the Northeast.
The service also said, “There will also be very dangerous trips with whiteout conditions resulting in blizzard conditions, and regular whiteouts with near-zero visibility and significant blizzards and snow drifts are to be expected. Such Traveling in conditions is extremely dangerous and sometimes impossible.”
The NWS said the Arctic blast experienced by most of the country spread to eastern states on Saturday.
The Bureau of Meteorology has warned that temperatures will be well below average east of the Rocky Mountains to the Appalachian Mountains.
