TEA Announces New ISD Supervisors and Supervisors Board in Houston

houston (Kia) — Texas Department of Education Announces New Superintendent and Board of Administrators for Houston ISD As part of state school district requisitions. In March, the state informed district leaders of its plans to intervene after years of poor student performance at several campuses.
Texas School Commissioner Mike Morath announced Thursday that former Dallas ISD Superintendent Mike Miles will become HISD Superintendent.
Miles is described in a statement as “an experienced education leader with a proven track record of improving student outcomes in Texas, including the second largest school district in Texas.”
Miles will begin working under a 21-day interim contract pending formal approval by the board of directors.
Morath also announced a nine-member HISD Executive Committee, including six women and three men. They will assume the role of the elected board of trustees and will hold their first meeting on Thursday, June 8th.
New Executive Team Names: Audrey Momanayi, Angela Lemond Flowers, Dr. Michelle Cruz Arnold, Cassandra Osenne Bundy, Janet Garza Lindner, Rolando Martinez, Paula Mendoza and Adam P. Levon .

On Wednesday, the district said goodbye to Superintendent Millard House and the board of directors. House made his final speech as superintendent on Tuesday night. He delivered the keynote address at the Carnegie Vanguard High School commencement ceremony, encouraging graduates to believe in themselves.
