South Carolina man scrapes $300,000 lottery ticket days after purchase: ‘I forgot’

A man from the Midlands region, who requested anonymity, said he remembered buying the winning ticket after driving for two days with it. South Carolina Education Lottery.
“I threw the ticket into the car console and forgot,” the man told a lottery official.
He remembered the ticket, scratched it off, and saw there was a winner. He told lottery officials that he was “overwhelmed with joy” while driving to the Columbia billing center to pick up his prize.

According to The State newspaper, South Carolina is one of eight states that allows lottery winners to remain anonymous. The others are Delaware, Kansas, Georgia, Maryland, North Dakota, Ohio and Texas.
The winner has a 1 in 900,000 chance of winning one of the three grand prizes in the $300,000 Fun Fortune game.
