Police respond to shooting at Michigan State University

The suspect in the East Lansing campus shooting is said to be traveling on foot. Another incident at the IM East fitness center is said to have been resolved.

East Lansing, Michigan — East Lansing Police are responding to the shooting. Michigan State University Campus on a Monday night.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:18 pm inside Barkey Hall on the East Lansing campus.

Police are on the scene and the suspect is on foot, according to MSU police and public security.

Everyone is asked to find shelter quickly and stay away from windows.

The MSU issued the following alerts: Flee, Hide, Fight.

“Flee means to escape from danger and evacuate to safety, hide means to secure safety on the spot, and fight means to defend yourself when there is no other option,” the official said.

Police also responded to another incident at the IM East Fitness Center, which has now been resolved.

Officials said several victims were injured.
