Maricopa County Superior Judge Peter Thompson ordered Democratic Gov.-elect Katie Hobbs to pay $33,000 in attorney fees after Kari Lake failed to file a lawsuit.
The Republican gubernatorial candidate filed a lawsuit questioning the integrity of the midterm elections while alleging election fraud.
In his ruling, Thompson said that “the court has found no clear and convincing evidence of wrongdoing” to support the printer problem and illegal voting allegations.
“There is no doubt that both sides firmly believe in their position with great conviction,” Thompson said. It is not consistent with a finding that the claims were or were not baseless and presented in bad faith.”
The judge dismissed Lake’s allegations, saying her legal team had shown no clear evidence that the election had been tampered with through willful fraud.
After the verdict, Lake announced his intention to appeal the verdict.
