Driver who pushed man into car accelerated when told to stop, agent says
SAN BENITO, Texas (ValleyCentral) — A Texas man has been arrested for trying to squeeze another man between two cars, law enforcement officials said.
Zuniga, a 33-year-old German from Los Indio, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a lethal weapon, according to the Cameron County Sheriff’s Office.
On Tuesday, deputies were dispatched to the 3300 block of FM 2520 in San Benito, where they reported a man was pinned to a vehicle. Said it was fixed to the car by a red Ford Ranger.
“When the victim was secured to his vehicle, he yelled at the driver of the Ford Ranger to stop, but instead accelerated and spun a tire,” the sheriff’s office said.
Zuniga then backed off, crashed into a tree and fled the scene, the sheriff’s office said. He was arrested at the Los Indio residence after witnesses corroborated the victim’s story, his agent added.
Speaking to a representative, the man complained of pain in his right knee, right arm and lower right abdomen.
Zuniga was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a lethal weapon, and his red Ford was seized for investigative purposes, the sheriff’s office said.
