Elon Musk has received backlash from both sides of the Atlantic after Twitter suspended the accounts of several high-profile journalists for The New York Times, CNN, The Washington Post, and other liberal commentators. The company claimed the accounts were “manually reviewed.”
This is part of Musk’s attempt to crack down on sharing the whereabouts of private jets.
On Wednesday, a stalker tracked down the car containing Musk’s son. The man climbed onto the hood of the car. At the time, the man was unaware that Musk was not in the car. The act infuriated Twitter’s CEO. The incident resulted in the suspension of Jack Sweeney’s account later in the day, 20-year-old Central He is a University of Florida college student responsible for his account @ElonJet. His Twitter account that tracks Musk’s flight trajectory and posts information for public viewing.
“It’s perfectly fine to criticize me all day long, but you can’t expose your real-time location and put your family at risk,” Musk tweeted.
Twitter’s CEO claimed his new “doxing” policy was broken by the suspended account, revealing what he claimed was an “assassination coordination” against him.
Many accounts have expressed criticism of the Trust and Safety Officer’s content moderation decisions. One of the most vocal celebrities commenting on the issue is Senator Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ( DN.Y.).
Musk brushed off the criticism by simply replying, “You come first.”
Democrats complain that Musk’s failures contradict the commitment to free speech he claimed when he bought the social media platform. The consequences of Musk’s recent actions include the stock price of his flagship company Tesla hitting a two-year low.
