Activists Block Texas Senators, Trans Woman Compares Rep. to Nazis
Shocking moment Transgender activist physically blocks Texas Senate sergeant from taking the mic
- Lauren Perkins, a transgender woman, was giving a speech in the Texas capital Thursday against an anti-drug bill, likening lawmakers to Nazis.
This is the shocking LGBTQ activist who stopped an arm-in-arm Texas senator from taking the mic from a trans speaker who compared lawmakers considering criminalizing drag shows to Nazis. It’s a moment.
Transgender woman Lauren Perkins appeared in the state capital on Thursday to provide public comment on several laws banning drug performances in Lone Star State.
Perkins was seen in a viral video tick tock With more than 445 million views, he addressed lawmakers after a two-minute speech with security guards on duty.
Before the microphone was taken away from her, another activist ran in front of the sergeant and spread his arms wide so as not to interrupt Perkins’ speech.
“By manipulating the language of ancient texts and pushing it into laws aimed at endangered minorities,” Perkins said, “it was possible to liken ourselves to another group that became popular in Germany in the 1930s. “When a little man with a small mustache stands in front of a crowd and declares himself superior to others, here I see you doing the same.”
State Senate speakers are allowed two minutes to speak on the agenda before the timer runs out.
After starting at a steady pace with his speeches against Senate Bill 1601 and Senate Bill 12, Perkins quickly spoke out at the end of the tangent.
She called out lawmakers who claimed they were pushing to limit drug performance to protect children.
“By hiding your prejudices behind cowardly children, you will find yourself on the wrong side of history,” Perkins said.
Perkins then compared Texas legislators to Nazi Germany, arguing that both were anti-gay.
“Some of the first people imprisoned under Nazi rule were gay and transgender,” Perkins said. “The first woman to have a successful sex change operation was likely murdered in the same prison.”
“When the prisoner-of-war camp was liberated by the Allies, we were still in prison for the so-called crime of loving those we loved and living our truth.
“We can see through this superficial law and access its intended target: the continued marginalization and otherization of the LGBTQIA+ community.”
