ABBA star Agnetha Faltskog, 73, announces she will release a new solo single this week
ABBA star Agnetha Faltskog has revealed she will release a new single on Thursday, relaunching her solo career at the age of 73.
Agnetha, lead singer alongside Anni-Frid Lyngstad of the hugely successful Swedish pop band, released her last solo album a decade ago.
Making the announcement on her newly launched Instagram account on Tuesday night the singer posted: ‘World Premiere of ‘Where Do We Go From Here? on @bbcradio2 with @zoetheball – tune in on Thursday 31st August from 8:30am (BST)’.
According to reports last week, Agnetha has landed a huge record deal with BMG who have pop superstar Kylie Minogue on their books.
Swedish pop group ABBA were formed in Stockholm in 1972 by Agnetha, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid.

Her reported signing to BMG comes two years after the band reunited to release the comeback album Voyage.
A source told The Sun: ‘Agnetha loved being back in the studio with ABBA and it inspired her to relaunch her solo career.
‘She has been in regular contact for months with the team at BMG in London and they have helped develop her new sound.
‘After a long time working on new music, there is finally a body of work which she loves and which is ready for release.’
She first achieved success in Sweden with the release of her 1968 self-titled debut album.
In May 2013, Agnetha released a new album called A, produced by Jörgen Elofsson and Peter Nordahl, which was her last.
Voyage was the ninth studio album by the Swedish pop group ABBA and was released in November 2021.

With ten songs written by Benny and Björn, it was the group’s first album of new material in forty years.
It was also the first album without long-time bassist Rutger Gunnarsson and drummer Ola Brunkert.

Abba won Eurovision in 1974 in Brighton. They went on to sell 350 million records, and their greatest hits compilation album, Abba Gold, stayed in the charts for more than 400 weeks.
