7-year-old girl in Louisiana dies after being attacked by neighbor’s pitbull

East Baton Rouge’s Sadie Davila died of serious injuries after being taken to hospital after being attacked by a dog on Friday night. WAFBMore report.
Sadie’s next-door neighbor and dog owner Eric Chinchilla Lopez, 20, was arrested and charged with manslaughter for failing to confine or restrain the dog.
Sadie’s parents were devastated by the death of their daughter, and her mother, Hayley Anselmo, sought justice for her shattered family.
“My mini-me. The light in my heart,” Anselmo wrote of his daughter on Facebook. “There are no words to describe what this feeling is.
“My family is shattered. Please pray for us. Pray that they will prosecute the dog owners and hold them accountable.

Anselmo confirms Sadie’s death after child was taken to hospital
Police investigating a scene along Kendalwood Road on Friday night
The attack occurred around 6:30 pm along Kendalwood Road near Hoo Shoo Too Road.
According to the arrest report, Lopez’s home didn’t even have a fence or other barrier to keep the dog from roaming the streets.
The East Button Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office said Sadie’s relatives tried to rescue her from the dogs but were unable to stop the vicious attacks.
Animal Control has been notified of the attack and is detaining the dog.
Her father, Mikey Davila, said he was speechless over the tragedy that struck his family.
In an Instagram post sharing the news, Davila wrote: The world is a cruel place. you were the light in my heart
EBR Parish Sheriff Sid Goatrow has joined the community in mourning the death of a first grader.
“This is a terrible, heartbreaking tragedy,” he told WAFB. “My heart goes out to this family and they remain in my prayers.”
EBR parochial school district staff described Sadie, who attended Woodlawn Elementary School, as a girl who brought joy to their class.
In a heartbreaking post on social media, Mikey mourned his daughter’s death while posting a photo of her playing in a local park.

Sadie was described by her teacher as a kind-hearted girl who loves to sing to her classmates
Her teacher Grace Feucht said in a statement:
“She was fearless and sang with all her heart in front of her classmates. She was a gift to me and made me laugh many times.
“Sadly, without her precious presence, I think our classroom would be pretty empty on Monday. It’s an honor to teach her.”
“This news is devastating to the entire school community,” said school district superintendent Sito Narcisse.
“It is difficult to comprehend the immense pain and remorse her family and friends are going through after this tragedy.”

Lopez was arrested and charged with manslaughter for failing to confine or restrain a dog that attacked a 7-year-old girl.
“This is a deeply heartbreaking tragedy,” said Sheriff Sid Gortrow.
