Guangzhou, China — Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng Inc. HTAero, an affiliate of HTAero, launched a new flying car on Sunday.

According to the company, it plans to roll out in 2024.

The company said the HT Aero vehicle has a lightweight design and a foldable rotor. This allows the car to travel on the road and fly when the rotor is expanded.

According to the company, the vehicle will be equipped with many safety features, including a parachute.

HT Aero is backed by Xpeng and its founder, HeXiaopeng. The company raised $ 500 million last week from a number of outside investors, including well-known venture capital firms.

Flying cars (also known as electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles) have received a lot of attention from automakers and start-ups.

However, there are many challenges for these vehicles to grow in scale, including regulatory and safety issues.

HT Aero’s new land and aircraft was launched on Xpeng’s Tech Day. There, the company also wrapped up the latest version of an advanced driver assistance system called XPILOT 4.0.
