Top-seeded Simona Halep scored six aces on Wednesday in the first round of the Transylvania Open in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, knocking off Romanian compatriot Elena Gabriella Race 6-1, 6-2.

Halep took only 73 minutes to finish Ruse, who made six double faults without notching Ace. Halep scored 25 out of 30 first serve points (83.3 percent).

Estonia’s second-seeded Anett Kontaveit was a 6-3, 7-5 winner over Serbian Alexandra Krnick, while Romanian Jaqueline Christian 7- against Australia’s fifth-seeded Ajla Tomljanovich. He won 6 (5) and 7-5. Eight-seeded Angelina Karinina defeated Germany’s Anna Lena Freesam 6-2, 6-2, and Ukraine’s Resia Turenko defeated Russia’s Anastasia Gasanova 6-2, 7-5.

Courmayeur Ladies Open

Russia’s Anna Karinskaya defeated six-seeded American Alison Riske 6-3, 0-6, 6-3 in the second round in Courmayeur, Italy.

The third seeded Ludmila Samsonova won 6-3, 6-3 over Spain’s Ariona Borsois, and the fifth seeded Danish Clara Tauson 6-4, 6-1 against Italy’s Julia Gat Monticone. I broke it.

The ninth-seeded American Henri was the 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 winner over Russia’s Kamila Rahimova, and the tenth-seeded Dayana Yastremska 6-six the fellow Ukrainian Katerina Kozlova. Defeated 1, 3-6, 7-5.
