Sister of victim killed at Como Fest speaks out

“She was already in her pajamas. I told my mother that I was going to sleep, [her friends] I convinced her to go,” Christina said.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Cynthia Santos told her family she would only be out for one hour on Comofest night. She never returned home.

WFAA met with Cynthia Santos’ sister Christina Santos, who said her family was still stunned by the news of her sister’s death.

“She didn’t deserve it…she didn’t. They destroyed my family…they really did. She was an anchor,” said Cristina Santos.

Cynthia was one of five children. Her family describes her as having a strong character. She was known for her distinctive red hair. She was also known to help with everything around her house, including giving her a ride. Cynthia worked as a server at a local Mediterranean restaurant. She’s a stay-at-home person like Cynthia, and she was supposed to be at home on Comofest night.

“She was already in her pajamas. I told my mother that I was going to sleep, [her friends] I convinced her to go,” Christina said.

Cristina Santos said she wanted people to know her sister was not involved in the shooting. She was going to her annual Comofest party with her best friend.

“We don’t associate her with anything like that,” her sister said.

I heard that Cynthia Santos was resuscitated twice. Her third time will be her last.

“The bullet was too deep. It hit her spine. She didn’t stand a chance,” said Cristina Santos.

The second and third fatal victims are Paul Willis and Gabriela Navarrete, both 18 years old. Comofest was supposed to be a celebration, but it turned into a tragedy.

“A part of me is missing. Her car is here when I get home. I’m in my room, but I still expect her to come in,” said Cristina Santos. said.
