WIMBLEDON – The latest from Wimbledon (all local times):
Nick Kyrgios is already feeling nervous about his first Grand Slam final.
The non-seeded Australian advanced to the Wimbledon final when Rafael Nadal withdrew from the tournament due to an abdominal injury.
He says the news caused him a restless night.
“So many thoughts in my head about a Wimbledon final,” Kyrgios said. “That was all I thought.”
Kyrgios will face six-time champion Novak Djokovic or Cam Norrie in Sunday’s final. Norrie plays the semifinals of a big tournament for the first time, but Djokovic has a lot of experience at this stage.
“That’s where Djokovic has an advantage from the start. He can take advantage of the experience, he’s done it many more times, he knows the emotions he’s going to feel. I don’t know,” Kyrgios said. “I don’t know anything like that, so … Everything was going through my head, every little thought, and I slept really badly.”
Novak Djokovic will play for a place in the eighth Wimbledon final.
The six-time champion, who has won the last three titles at the All England Club, will face ninth seed Cam Norrie on the central court.
The winner will face Nick Kyrgios in Sunday’s final. Kyrgios advanced to his first Grand Slam singles final when Rafael Nadal retired due to an abdominal injury.
