Wilson of Capitals fined $ 5,000 for vandalizing Rangers Buchnevic

Tom Wilson of Washington was fined $ 5,000 by the NHL for vandalizing the New York Rangers’ forward Pavelb Hnevic in a team match at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.

A fine is the maximum allowance for a case under a league collective bargaining agreement. Wilson’s salary this season is $ 4.1 million.

Wilson was given a double minor penalty for rough and 10-minute cheating after a scrum hitting Buchnevic lying on the ice and throwing Artemi Panarin into the ice. Panarin was what the team called a lower body injury and was excluded from the rest of the game.

Capitals coach Peter Laviolette said, “I thought this was just a scrum. Something was happening with the goalkeeper, so I jammed with the goalkeeper and a lot of players jumped in there. happen.”

Rangers coach David Quinn said Panarin was okay, adding about Wilson: No need at all. “

“I think you should pay a little more respect to the game and the players,” Rangers Center Mika Jibanejad said of Wilson’s play. “I honestly don’t know where to start. It’s just terrible. Zero respect. I don’t know why I was surprised, but yeah, it’s just terrible.”

This is Wilson’s third fine in eight NHL seasons, and he has been suspended five times. The most recent outage was seven games in March on board Brandon Carlo in Boston.

When he was suspended for a blow to Carlo, the league’s player safety department held Wilson “a substantial disciplinary record, taking advantage of opponents who are in an unprotected position and do so with considerable force. I called it “player”. He is not expected to face further discipline for his actions on Monday night.
