Who is the best runner in college football right now?

Not a single defender has been selected in the first round of 2022 NFL Drafts — but next year’s draft class is poised to keep it from becoming a tradition.

So, which main defender will prove to be the most important next season? Let’s take a look at some of the top people:

Bijan Robinson, Texas

Robinson was responsible for most of Texas’ rush attacks last season. He carried the ball 195 times for 1,127 yards and made 11 quick touchdowns. Robinson also caught 26 balls for 295 yards and four goals. In the last two seasons, he has counted 281 rushes, 1,830 yards and 15 rush scores.

Robinson was named a first-team All-Big 12 by conference coach and Associated Press as a sophomore and became the 55th Longhorn with a career rushing 1,000 yards. He’s only the 13th man to cross 1,000 yards in a season, and he’s run the 100 yards six times in 2021-22, tied for 11th in Texas history.

Robinson continued to carve his name in the Longhorn history books throughout last year, adding to the fifth longest run in the program’s history with five consecutive 100-yard runs. His three games were 100 yards rushing and 50 yards receiving just behind Cedric Benson for most in UT history.

Blake Corum, Michigan

In the 2021–22 season, Corum racked up 952 yards and 18 TD on 144 carry. He added 49 receptions for 468 yards and four goals to his stats line.

Corum was the All-Big Ten’s third-team choice last season and is the Top Ten Offensive Player of the Week following the September 11 game against Washington in which he racked up 21 carry, 171 rushing yards and three touchdowns, all career highs at a time. He also added back a 49-yard punt equaling 231 all-purpose yards in the game.

Corum rushed for 100-plus yards in four games last season.

Deuce Vaughn, Kansas State

Vaughn had a very impactful 2021-22 season, running 1,404 yards and 18 rush touchdowns on 235 strokes. He also had an impact on receivers, with 49 receptions, 468 yards and four touchdowns.

In 2021, he is a consensus All-American and is the 2021 Big 12 Conference Player of the Year, according to Pro Football Focus. He will also enter the 2022–23 season ranking first among all non-kickers in career points per game (8.1), second among active players in career all goals yards per game (89.0), and tied for eighth in touchdowns. rush (25).

Vaughn led all of the top 12 running backs in catch and yards for the last two seasons combined. He will enter next season with a streak of six consecutive 100-yard sprints.

Treveyon Henderson, Ohio State

As a freshman, Henderson rolled the ball 183 times for 1,248 yards and 15 touchdowns, while making 27 receptions for 312 yards and four touchdowns.

Most notably, Henderson set a speed record for Ohio State freshmen with a 270-yard appearance against Tulsa, breaking the 49-year record held by Archie Griffin. He was the fourth true freshman running back in the school’s history to surpass the 1,000 yard rush.

In addition, his 19 goals total is the Ohio State freshman record, previously held by Maurice Clarett, who scored 18 goals in 2002.

Jahmyr Gibbs, Alabama

Gibbs spent two seasons at Georgia Tech but transferred to Alabama at the end of the 2021–22 season. In two seasons at Georgia Tech, he had the ball 232 times for 1,206 yards and eight touchdowns, and made 59 receptions for 768 yards and five touchdowns.

He was named an All-Conference Honorable mention as a return specialist during his first season in 2020. Gibbs recorded over 100 yards of practice in six games last season for Tech, and set a season-high on the pitch with 99 in their season-opener against Northern Illinois. .

Gibbs also set a career-high with 125 yards receiving against Pittsburgh last season.
