White House adviser Andy Slavit believes 89% of older people will register

Andy Slavit, senior adviser to the White House for Covid, predicted that more and more Americans would continue to take the Covid vaccine, based on messages and evidence from trusted sources.

“In Israel, where they are a little more advanced than us, 89% of older people choose to vaccinate,” Slavit said. “We believe that we can reach these types of numbers if we continue to answer people’s questions, because they are very good, safe and effective vaccines.”

According to the latest data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 37% of US people over the age of 65 are fully vaccinated. The state managed about 17 million shots last week alone.

The Biden administration has announced that it will publish a national vaccine availability website that acts as a link between numerous vaccine registration websites from states, pharmacies and other companies to further facilitate vaccine distribution. ..

Slavit told CNBC’s “News with Shepard Smith” that “entering your zip code will give you the idea that everywhere near you claiming to have the vaccine will be displayed on the map.” Said. He added that streamlining the process would not only reduce widespread frustration, but also reduce vaccine hesitation.

Host Shepard Smith put pressure on Slavit about his comments on the vaccine passport. Slavit said at a White House press conference on Monday that vaccine passports should be free, private and secure, but “it is not the government’s responsibility to retain and do that data.”

Slavit said Tuesday night that the government-run vaccine passport initiative could lead some Americans to think that the government was too involved in collecting the data needed, especially for vaccine passports. That resistance would be counterproductive to the overall vaccination effort, he said.

“If the public feels like a government, I think they will be reluctant to vaccinate. The federal government is playing that role too much,” Slavit said.
