Weather Impact: Orders for boiling water continue to grow and most schools remain closed

Millions of Texas people were ordered to boil water before consuming it. In northern Texas, drinking water in at least 15 cities is affected by winter storms.

Thousands of Dallas / Fort Worth residents have finally regained their strength after spending days experiencing continuous power outages during the winter storm. But now people all over the state are being notified about boiling water. To date, at least 15 cities in North Texas have been affected.

In addition to ongoing water concerns, some schools have been closed due to weather damage and / or power savings. According to Oncor, as of 6 am on Friday, about 27,000 customers are experiencing outages.

According to the company, more than 1.3 million customers remained deprived of electricity during peak ERCOT-led load limits. Oncor said it expects a “significant amount” of remaining customers to recover by Friday night.

According to authorities, ordered Texas people need to boil water for at least two minutes before drinking, washing, or brushing their teeth. Water should be boiled vigorously and then cooled before consumption.

Everything in North Texas is under hard freeze warning until 9am Friday.

Temperatures can drop to teens and even single digits, causing additional damage to exposed pipes and increasing damage to water mains. Also, if the power outage continues, the indoor plumbing is more likely to freeze.

CVS Vaccine Clinic

CVS Pharmacy has closed or shortened store opening hours due to unpowered states, or due to severe weather conditions or regional emergencies. Most of the affected areas are in Texas.
