WAYNE and Coleen Rooney were “away from the oceans” last night after flying to America for a management job while vowing to stay in the UK with four children.

Manchester United and the former England ace were pictured landing at Dulles Airport in Washington for a million pounds a year to discuss his old MLS club as head of DC United.

She flew to the U.S. on Sunday after Coleen, 36, revealed her marital tensions, and lived in America so frustrated that she often cried to sleep.

Rooney, also 36, wants to take the job to further his managerial career, but the couple’s friends fear he will have even more tension in their troubled marriage.

A source said: “Wayne has discussed the work with Coleen, but has categorically said he will not go.

“That said, he doesn’t want to get in his way. They understand that they are a team, but they are not emotionally invested.

“There’s been a lot of back and forth but now they agree with the disagreement.

“The kids are settled in school and don’t want to go back to America, so they plan to stay with their mother in Cheshire.

“It’s going to be very tough for everyone, as the management job requires more time than being a player, so it’s going to be difficult to get back to the UK.”

The couple married in 2008 and have four children: Kai, 12, Cass, four, Klay, nine and Kit, six. But they found life difficult when they moved to Washington DC in June 2018.

Rooney was arrested in December 2018 for being drunk at Dulles Airport.

In February 2019 he had a sweet night with a bartender while he was at a Florida workout.

Hooters were also depicted outside a bar, revealing clothes that are famous for their sexy waitresses.

His behavior is understood to have been a trigger for Coleen’s request to return home in 2019.

Earlier this year at the Wagatha Christie libel trial, Coleen recounted how she “cried every night” after her family moved to the U.S.
