Juno Beach, Florida – Austin Eckroat and Pierceson Coody made the United States a quick start, while Cole Hammer and Stewart Hagestad closed the United Kingdom and Ireland with the Walker Cup.
Ricky Castillo also won, with the Americans playing five of the ten afternoon singles games and another Sunday with a 14-12 victory at the Seminole Golf Club.
The Americans won the first biennial event in 1922 three times in a row to take the lead of 38-9-1.
Nathaniel Crosby, son of the late Crooner Bing Crosby, became the first US captain to win consecutive victories since Buddy Marucci in 2007 and 2009.
Eckroat overwhelmed Mark Power 7 and 6 in the opening match, and Coody defeated Alex Fitzpatrick 3 and 1 second. Castillo surpassed John Murphy 2 and 1 to become the only player to finish the two-day event 4-0.
Hammer defeated Ben Schmidt 4 and 3 in the penultimate match, and Baldstad beat Ben Jones 4-2 in 4-4, pushing the Americans to the top.
Quade Cummins gave the United States half-points and finished 18th in a pulling par at Barclay Brown.
British amateur champions Long, Mattyram, Angus Flanagan and Jack Dier have won the GB & I match. Long outperformed John Pack 1, Lamb outperformed Davis Thompson 2, Flanagan outperformed William Mu 1, and Dier outperformed American amateur champion Tyler Strafachi.
Played a long Sunday afternoon after missing the first three sessions due to a stomach virus that affected both the team and its captain. Strafachi sat down on Saturday.
GB & I scored 2 1/2 of 4 points in the morning foursome and pulled in within half a point.
Power and Murphy defeated Coody and Pack 1, Ram and Dier routed Baldstad and Strafachi 6 and 5, and Flanagan and Schmidt were halved with Hammer and Thompson. Ricky Castillo and Mouw outperformed Fitzpatrick and Brown 1.
GB & I was the last to win the American soil in 2001 at Ocean Forest in St. Simons Island, Georgia.
The 2023 event will take place on the Old Course in St Andrews.
