Kevin Holland and his training partner Patrick Robinson heard gunshots while eating at a sushi restaurant in Houston on Monday night.
HOUSTON – Kevin Holland, a mixed martial arts fighter in the garbage-speaking sport, has earned the nickname “Big Mouth” given to him by UFC President Dana White.
But Holland proves that he can walk not only in the octagon, but in the conversation.
Holland and his training partner Patrick Robinson heard gunshots while eating at a sushi restaurant in Houston on Monday night.
Fort Worth’s Travis Lutter, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter, took action to help disarm anyone without injuring anyone.
The Netherlands refused to give an interview after the incident, but Robinson spoke to photographers there early Tuesday morning and explained what had happened.
Robinson said that while he and Holland were eating, “you know the sound of gunfire.”
“So it all stopped,” Robinson said.
According to him, most of the restaurant is hidden under the tables. But when Robinson and Holland saw someone trying to stop their guns, they ran to help.
“We lowered it, we caught it,” Robinson said. “I took the gun and the bag from his hand.”

Robinson and Holland lowered the man before police arrived, and then handcuffed him.
“We’re struggling to survive,” Robinson said. “So we do it. We just almost took it in our hands and ran there and grabbed it before hitting someone else or injuring someone else.”
The police thanked them for their prompt action.
“Who knows what would have happened if a good Samaritan had not thought quickly about taking up arms,” said HPD Sgt. Ricardo Salas told KHOU. “We are very grateful to the citizen for helping us.”
On Monday night, the Netherlands was not the first intervention in the suspect.
According to UFC correspondent Ariel Helvani, the Netherlands in October helped to follow and stop someone trying to steal a car.
Hollande said on Instagram on Monday that no one was injured in the incident, adding that “the shooter just said so.”
“I laugh a lot, even when it’s not funny,” Holland wrote. “I smile when I have to blink. I’m very happy and thankful to see this day.”
The Netherlands competes in the UFC heavyweight division, the highest level of MMA. He won a major victory over Alex Oliveira, who won the main card at UFC 272 on March 5 by technical knockout.
