Geneva (Reuters)-The Swiss bank UBS said Wednesday that Sarah Youngwood has been appointed Chief Financial Officer of the Group since May after current CFO Kirt Gardner has decided to resign.
Youngwood has been the Treasury Head of JPMorgan Chase’s Consumer & Community Banking business since 2016, UBS said in a statement, adding that it will join the executive committee from March.
According to Switzerland’s largest bank, Gardner will assist Youngwood during a two-month onboarding period before leaving UBS in May to “pursue other opportunities.”
Since 2020, Youngwood’s role has included the key finances of JPMorgan Chase’s Global Technology Unit and its Diversity & Inclusion Team.
From 2012 to 2016, she was JPMorgan Chase’s Director of Investor Public Relations, prior to 14 years in various financial institution groups within JPMorgan’s investment banks in Paris, London and New York. ..
Gardner, who joined UBS in 2013, has been Group CFO since January 2016.
CEO Ralph Hammers said Gardner has been instrumental in maintaining the bank’s financial position and protecting the trust of its clients and investors through a variety of market conditions.
“We are also pleased to welcome Sarah Youngwood to the UBS team as Group CFO and a member of the Group Executive Committee,” said Hammers. “With her strong track record, deep financial expertise, and experience across a variety of banking disciplines, Sarah is ideally suited to guide our financial function into the future.”
