EXCLUSIVE: George Tyndall is seen in court as ‘pervert gynecologist’ is freed on $2M bail on claims he molested 16 female patients

A former University of Southern California gynecologist pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting multiple women and is now free on $2 million bail.

George Tyndall, 76, appeared before Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler on Friday at the criminal courts building in downtown Los Angeles dressed in a white button down shirt with red detail, a yellow handkerchief tucked in his blazer pocket and a mask partially concealing his face.

The disgraced ex-doctor was charged with 27 felonies – 18 counts of sexual penetration of an unconscious person and nine counts of sexual battery by fraud, against 16 of his former patients, The Los Angeles Times reported.

Tyndall worked at the university’s health clinic for three decades and was accused of misconduct from 400 women over a seven-year-period as the university’s only full-time gynecologist.

Investigators said all his alleged crimes took place between 2009 and 2016. Many of his victims were as young as 18, 19 and 20 years old, officials said.

‘That’s how he gets away with this … In their mind, they think what’s being done is correct,’ said Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney Reinhold Mueller.

Mueller added that Tyndall’s patients were ‘unable to resist’ because they were not aware of the nature of what Tyndall was doing.’

Tyndall’s attorney’s requested a bail adjustment to $250,000. If convicted he faces up to 64 years in prison. His next court date is September 15,  Fox LA reported.

Tyndall’s attorney stated that his client has been ‘adamant from Day 1 that he did not do these alleged crimes,’ as per the news outlet.

Tyndall’s case is the largest investigation of sexual abuse by a single perpetrator conducted by the Los Angeles Police Department.

The Los Angeles Times published an article in in May 2018 investigating allegations of sexual abuse. After the story ran, hundreds of women came forward accusing Tyndall of sexual abuse and racial discrimination.

He was charged a year later, in June 2019, and surrendered his medical license in September 2019, according to the records from the Medical Board of California.

Many former patients described Tyndall as ‘unprofessional, creepy,’ or someone who made them feel ‘uncomfortable and violated,’ a report said.

Many complaints were made by students and staff that was reported in the LA Times story accusing Tyndall of allegedly photographing patients’ genitals, and touching women inappropriately during pelvic exams.

Some patients even requested not to see Tyndall again and attempted to change providers.

Prosecutors first filed charges in 2019 relating to 21 former patients, but had to drop counts related to five women who were no longer part of the case.

Lead prosecutor Deputy District Attorney Reinhold Mueller, told the news outlet ‘we were unable to make contact one of the victim and four victims advised us that they were opting out of the case.’

One of Tyndall’s victims spoke during a press conference at the Los Angeles Superior Courthouse.

‘USC put limits on what they could do to help patients and I could see that they were doing their best within those limits.’

‘I want to tell the the victims our day will come, justice will come. We will see Tyndall tried and accounted for.’

She added: ‘He will go to court and he will go to jail.’
