A young man who got into a fight with an NYPD officer and put him in a chokehold has already been released under the city’s relaxed bail laws.

“Underground criminals know that they can get into a fight, strangle a policeman and come back within hours.

“The police are lining up to make the subways safer, but we feel abandoned by a justice system that won’t protect us.”

The boy, who cannot be publicly identified because of his age, jumped over the fence at the 125th Street-Lexington Avenue station in East Harlem on Saturday.

The violent confrontation began just before 6pm, and the boy was “verbally aggressive for over three minutes” with officers before they tried to arrest him.

In the horrifying footage, the boy began throwing punches at the officer and trying to force him to release, beating him around the station.

At the end of the picture, his face is covered in blood, and the officers manage to arrest the teenager.

He was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer, obstructing government administration and resisting arrest.

She was released on her own recognizance on Sunday, and the teenage girl was arrested on the same charges, although the outcome of her case was not immediately known.

In a statement officers said: “One officer suffered head and shoulder swelling and was treated at NYU and released. The other officer was also treated and released at NYU.”
