“The Taste of Cowboys” gives Texas students a recipe for life

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) – Students from five local high schools are hoping to win the grand prize in the Cowboys Taste Competition.

“I learned from this experience that we were able to adapt to any situation … any high-pressure change,” says Hannah Scott, a junior student at the Frisco Career and Technical Education Center.

Really high blood pressure. Young people had a working hour of 75 minutes to use mysterious substances to prepare appetizers, main dishes and desserts.

Student culinary teams create dishes that will be sampled by a respected jury that knows the true meaning of the competition.

Former Dallas Cowboys security was one of the judges of George Teague. “It was really important for me, because you have to have teamwork and companionship to be able to operate at a high level under these conditions,” he said.

Intensity was evident at AT&T Stadium, where a lot of dough was donated to the winning school’s culinary program. The students’ sports skills were even more impressive.

“Everyone has done such an amazing job. When I see what other people are doing, teaching or doing, I think you can see that a lot of people have potential,” said Gabriel Jr. of the Dallas Skyline. Delqado.

Emily Williams is the CEO of the Knight Texas Restaurants Association. He gave a reason for the association to unite with children. “I think that as a student, when you try to understand what you want to do in life, and when you can succeed in something, it gives you the confidence to really move forward.”

Most young people have a little on the plate. Many are preparing for the next chapter of their lives. But now they are taking the opportunity to communicate with working professionals who can play the role of a door to their future.

George Wasai of Legends Hospitality said: “There is room for all of them. I hope I get an email from someone saying ‘I would like to have an internship for you’. It would be a dream for me.”

Although each school is awarded a certain amount of grant money, Lewisville Technology, Exploration & Career Center – West can accept this moment. Those students took first place and received a grand prize of $ 10,000.

Gina Perry worked as their chef at the event. “By competing as a team and working hard, they can go to any industry they want and leave that lesson behind, and they know they can achieve anything if they put their minds to it,” he said.

Hannah Scott, a Frisco ISD student, simplified this. “The overall message in life is to try to make everything great with everything you have, even with the challenges you face, and also to use your creativity to do something amazing.”
