The Red Wings fall second straight to the Blackhawks, 6-2

Chicago (AP) — Pius Suter exhaled after scoring his first NHL goal. When he got the second one, he started thinking about another.

Suter scored the first three goals in the sixth game, Kevin Lankinen made 25 saves, and the Chicago Blackhawks beat Detroit Red Wings 6-2 on Sunday to win the second straight victory.

The 24-year-old Suter became the first player to score each of the first three NHL goals in the same game since Orston Matthews scored four goals in Toronto on October 12, 2016. He became the second player to accomplish this feat. He joined the Birkendal on December 17, 1933 for the Blackhawks.

“I was happy to get the first one, and in the end I made it easier later,” Suter said. “Then, after the second, yeah, now you feel like you need to get that third.

Connor Murphy and Matthias Yan-Mark each had goals and assists when Chicago swept the two-game set against Detroit after starting the season with four consecutive losses in Florida. Philip Krashev also scored and Patrick Kane assisted twice.

Rankinen was solid again after he made 30 stops while winning his first career win with a 4-1 victory over Red Wings on Friday night. He was tested on Dylan Larkin’s drive early in the second period, but he got over to stop at the right post.

“He’s a competitor and he seems to have that calm about him,” Murphy said of Rankinen. “He is impressive.”

Tyler Bertuzzi scored twice in Detroit and Jonathan Bernier made 29 saves. Red Wings have suffered their third defeat in the last four games.

“The defense was too loose,” said Jeff Brasle. “We have to be a team that does it much better in terms of defense. We can’t give up many opportunities.”

Chicago got off to a quick start behind Swiss forward Suter, who signed a one-year deal in July. He sent a rebound to the wide open net 4:42 in the first period, then added a power play goal from a great pass by Janmark.

Chicago was 1 to 2 with a male advantage, 8 to 19 this year. Since opening the 1990-91 season with 11 games, he has scored at least one power play goal for the first time in the first six games.

“I think most of it is executions,” said Jeremy Colliton. “We’re getting cleaner with packs and breaking the pressure.”

Detroit regained 1 when Bertuzzi redirected Larkin’s shot over Lankinen during a 41-second 5-3 power play. However, Murphy responded to Chicago and was 3-1 when he sent a wrist shot with 2:42 traffic remaining.

After Bertuzzi’s power play goal dropped Chicago’s lead to 4-2 in the third inning, Suter sent a wide open shot under Bernier’s glove, leaving 7:32 from the left circle.

“We weren’t doing well defensively,” Bertuzzi said. “We needed to improve our power play, and I thought I did it well. I thought our PK wasn’t too bad. 5 to 5, I need to put up a little more. had.”

Carl Söderberg played for almost 14 minutes in his first match against Chicago, replacing Lucas Wallmark in the lineup. The veteran forward agreed to a $ 1 million one-year contract with the Blackhawks last month, but was delayed in joining his new team due to US visa issues.
