The pope is visiting Ukrainian war refugees at a hospital in Rome

Rome (Reuters) – Pope Francis paid a surprise visit to a young Ukrainian war refugee in a pediatric hospital in Rome on Saturday.
In one of the pictures published by the Vatican, the pope is seen talking to a girl with a tied head and what appeared to be a tube in her throat.
Nineteen Ukrainian children are currently being treated at two branches of Bambino Gesu Hospital due to cancer, neurological diseases or serious war injuries caused by explosions, the Vatican said. About 50 Ukrainian children have been treated at the hospital since the war began.
“The blood and tears of children, the suffering of women and men who are defending their country or fleeing bombings are shaking our consciences,” Francis said in a message at a church conference in Slovakia on Friday.
