The Met Gala holds a record $ 17.4 million, according to the museum

NEW YORK – All that “golden glamor” brought real gold. This year’s Met gala won a record $ 17.4 million, museum officials said Tuesday.
The annual gala is a self-funded fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. The money pays for the operation of the institute and the holding of highly successful annual exhibitions such as the current “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” which was presented at the gala on Monday night and opens to the public on May 7th. That exhibition is part of one of the partial exhibitions that explores the roots of American fashion.
The gala is traditionally held on the first Monday in May, but due to the pandemic, the 2021 version was held last September. The two galas together raised $ 33.7 million, according to the institute.
