A tech company executive called “ Crazy Bob ” who founded Cash App is stabbed to death in San Francisco

Bob Lee, 43, was attacked in the city’s downtown Rincon Hill neighborhood at 2:35 am on Tuesday.

Police were called to the 300 block on Main Street near the entrance to a skyscraper and found a father of two suffering from multiple stab wounds.

Friends told the San Francisco Standard that he was visiting the area on business, but decided to stay one more day when he was stabbed.

Authorities confirmed he was taken to a hospital, but died of his injuries in the early hours.

Authorities have not yet made an arrest, and San Francisco police have not released details of the suspect.

A heartbroken friend and colleague paid tribute to the tech executive, Joshua Goldbard said: “My heart is broken tonight”.

“Moby was his dream. A privacy wallet for the 21st century. I miss him every day.”

The founder of cryptocurrency and payments company MobileCoin had been working with Lee, who has been chief product officer since November 2021, for two years.

Lee was Chief Technology Officer at Square (which recently changed its name to Block) when he developed and launched Square Cash in 2013.

Since then, the brand has grown into a Cash App with tens of millions of users in the US and UK.

Prior to that, he worked as a software engineer at Google from 2004 to 2010, helping design Android’s core libraries.
