Police identified those involved in the shooting in Greenwood, Indiana. During a meeting on Monday, officials released the names of the three people shot and killed on Sunday night.

Pedro Pineda and Rosa Mirian Rivera de Pineda are 56 and 37 years old. The third victim was a 30 -year -old man named Victor Gomez. The shooter was said to be 20 years old. He was replaced by a good Samaritan named Elisjsha Dicken, 22, who was joining the officers. The gun was fired into the restaurant, sending customers on their way for their lives.

“So we were in the restaurant and we heard the big keys,” said witness Heather Arthur.

Chris Roy, managing director of the store’s Van shoe store, was working on Sunday when he saw people walking down the street before closing.

“I jumped on the table, locked the door, gathered my friends and the other officers at the back door,” Roy said.

At the back door, they locked themselves in an interior room with about 40 to 50 other people, most of whom were customers from other stores, he said. There was no exit on that road so they waited for the police to come.

“We just taught everyone to be calm,” he said.

Two people were injured, including a 12 -year -old girl. The two injured were taken to hospital in stable condition. The shooter was shot and killed by Dicken. Officials described him as a “good Samaritan with a handgun.” Dicken was able to separate the gunman within two minutes after the gunman fired 24 rounds from his gun. Dicken fired 10 shots from his Glock handgun.

“His actions are no less heroic,” Greenwood police chief Jason Ison said. “He grabbed the man from a distance with a handgun. He was very good at that. Many people would have been killed last night if it had not been for a resident armed with weapons who acted very quickly within two minutes of the shooting.

First responders helped the injured and judges worked to secure the scene. Greenwood Mayor Mark W. Myers also thanked the Dicken people for their bravery. He spoke of the damage to the community and encouraged residents to pray for those injured and for first responders.

Police said they knew Dicken had no military counsel. There have been more than 350 major shootings this year, according to the Gun Violence Archive.
