On Saturday, April 9, at approximately 9:11 p.m., units of the Fort Worth Fire Department were sent to the fire at a commercial structure reported at the intersection of Dallas Avenue and Tension Bay.

When they arrived, the crews saw a strong fire coming from a one-story commercial metal-walled building belonging to the Ready Metal business. A few minutes later, the roof collapsed.

Firefighters called for air ladders to help put out the blaze, which turned into two alarms. About half an hour later, 65 firefighters working at the scene were able to control the fire. A firefighter was injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment. He was later released.

Later that evening, the FWFD Criminal Investigation Bureau responded to the incident. After a thorough investigation, it was determined that the fire was intentional and the cause was arson. The suspect has been taken into custody and investigators are seeking public help to identify them. Fort Worth police said they believed the suspect was also responsible for numerous thefts.

If anyone has information about this investigation, please contact the FWFD Criminal Investigation Bureau at 817-392-6852. They can also contact Crime Stoppers at 817-468-TIPS (8477). Everyone who calls will remain anonymous.
