SAN ANTONIO “A fire quickly destroyed a home in northeastern Bexar County on Monday, causing hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage, according to firefighters.”
The fire was reported at block 7300 on Goya Drive near Walzem and Gibbs Sprawl Road shortly before noon, according to Robert Hogan, chief of fire at Bexar County ESD 10.
The flames started in the back of the house and quickly spread across the roof, Hogan said.
After firefighters made sure no one was home, they evacuated as the flames had already engulfed most of the attic.
Firefighters put out the flames for about half an hour. Hogan said the damage from the fire was $ 225,000.
Homeowners were not there when the fire broke out. Hogan said the Red Cross had been called in to help these families with the aftermath of the fire.
