The 2021 Rock’n’Roll Running Series draws more than 18,000 people to downtown San Antonio

San Antonio – At the mark, get ready, go! The Rock’n’Roll running series reopened in San Antonio this weekend after being canceled last year by a COVID-19 pandemic.

This year’s theme is “December Fiesta”.

During the weekend, running, rocking and rolling weekends filled the streets. The winners of the full marathon are Colin Marz of San Antonio for men and Ildy Girl of North Carolina for women.

Each runner had a reason for the Sunday race. This is especially true for runner Neil Bendesky.

“I’ve never run an event like this before. I couldn’t even go around the block in 2015, so now, six years later, I’m better. I’ve overcome that heart attack. I did-I had 14 half marathons, “Bendeski said.

Three Mexican runners finished at the top of the half marathon.

“I’m very happy to be here in San Antonio. It’s a very hilly course, but it’s a test to prepare for the Houston Marathon in about six weeks,” said JAE Perez.

Runner Alex Danels first finished in 5k on Saturday. He says it’s a blessing to win after the lungs collapsed last year.

“I had to spend about three weeks in the hospital, then I went home and closed for a while and decided to recover. It seems that I’m getting back on track from nowhere. We’ve got a rock’n’roll 5k here, “says Danels.

More than 18,000 runners attended the event this weekend, and many have stated that the series has regained a normal sense of the community.
