(Reuters)-Carlos Alcaraz of Spain was excluded from the Davis Cup final after a positive COVID-19 test, the Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) said in a statement Thursday.
It was a big blow to Spanish holders who will face Ecuador in the opening round of Group A in Madrid on Friday.
“Today I wanted to tell you that I had a positive COVID-19 test, which would prevent me from playing the Davis Cup, which I was very excited about,” Alcaraz, 18, wrote on Instagram. I am.
