Fourth grade teacher Irma Garcia was one of two teachersDuring a mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday. On Thursday morning, her husband and high school sweetheart, Joe, died as an “ambulance”, according to family members.
Debra Austin, Irma Garcia’s cousin, wrote on GoFundMe: “I really believe that Joe died of a broken heart.” “It was unbearable to lose the love of more than 25 years of his life.”

“These two will make everyone feel loved, no matter what,” he said. “They have the purest hearts, I love you [so much] tia and tio, please be with me every step of the way. ”

The couple’s nephew, John Martinez, wrote on Twitter that Joe Garcia “died of grief.”
“I really can’t find a word about how we all feel,” he said. “… God bless, it’s not easy.”

Martinez said the couple is a high school sweetheart and has four children, ages 23, 19, 15 and 13.
“No child should go through that,” Martinez tweeted. “My heart breaks for them.”
AThe CBS branch, which survived the shooting on Tuesday, told KENS-TV that Irma Garcia and another teacher, Eva Mireles, 44, had saved her and other children’s lives.
“They were in front of my classmates to help. “To save them.”
After the shooting on Tuesday, Martinez’s aunt said she “sacrificed herself to protect the children in her class.”
“Her name is Irma Garcia,” he said, and she died heroically.
