Spurs defeat Orlando Cast magic at Orlando Night

San Antonio – Devin Vassell scored the highest 19 points of his career in double-digit participation in the other six Spurs with a 123-97 victory at San Antonio’s opening night at the AT & T Center.

Immediately behind Vassel was teammate Lonnie Walker IV, 17 off the bench, followed by Derrick White with 16 and 15 from Keldon Johnson and Dejounte Murray, respectively, and another 12 points from Doug McDermott. And I got off to a start as a spar for the first time.

“That’s the energy we have to play,” said Spurs after the Spurs’ first win of the season. “That’s the friendship of the team we want to do.”

Part of the Spurs’ aerial attack was 13 3 pointers, with both Walker and Derrick White hitting 3 each.

The Spurs led Johnson’s three-point half to 61-49, but Vassell buzzed to hit three from the baseline, ending the quarter with a 20-5 run, and 94-71 leading to the fourth quarter.

“I think that’s our team,” Vassell added. “Anyone can be our main scorer at any night.”

The Spurs will have to follow the road to Denver on Friday and return to Saturday’s showdown with NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks at the AT & T Center.
