A special police officer was shot dead while working in Washington, DC, Tuesday night, officials said.

Washington, DC police chief Robert Contee said an unidentified female police officer was found suffering from gunshot wounds in the southeastern part of Washington, DC after 8:30 pm.

Police told Fox News that she wasn’t breathing unconsciously when the police arrived.

“This is a shame,” Conty said at a press conference at night. “My heart is directed at this special police officer’s family.”

No arrests have been made.

DC police advised residents to watch out for the White Camry, which has dark-colored windows, FOX 5DC reported. The vehicle was finally seen on Wheeler Road and headed for Southern Avenue SE.
