The state reports that a 51-year-old man who kidnapped and raped a 14-year-old girl in 2006 was found dead in a cell of only 14 years, sentenced to 421 years on Monday.
Vinson Fillau pleaded guilty to the kidnapping and 10 criminal sexual acts in 2007 and admitted that he disguised himself as a police officer to kidnap the girl after getting off the school bus.
He then chained her to a 15-foot-deep bunker beam less than a mile from her home and raped her every day for over a week.

Eventually, Fiyo gave the girl a mobile phone to play the game. She used it to send text messages to her mother. Police then used the nearby cell tower to find a common location in the bunker and rescue the girl.
The infamous incident became the lifelong television movie “Girl in the Bunker” in 2018.
It’s unclear how Fiyo died, but the state reported no immediate signs of cheating.

Fiyo’s 421-year sentence was the largest sentence allowed.
Judge G. Thomas Cooper said in a 2007 decision, “I strongly believe that you have lost the right to be part of this society. No more repulsive crimes other than murder are possible.” ..
