RICHARDSON, Texas – A 3-year-old boy was shot and killed Monday morning, Dallas police said.

Before 10 a.m., police said the baby’s mother arrived at the emergency room of Medical City Hospital in North Dallas.

Police said the baby was shot in the head and died.

According to police, the murder detectives went to the hospital and are investigating the shooting.

Footage from the scene showed a crime scene tape surrounding the sedan of several police cars outside the hospital.

Sources told WFAA that investigators were receiving conflicting stories about where and how the shooting took place.

In an update Monday night, police said the child’s mother was involved in a roadside incident involving another sedan near the park in Whitehurst and Arbor Park.

However, police said they did not find any evidence of road rage.

Dallas police said an investigation was ongoing and they were trying to determine the cause of the deadly shooting.

The names of the mother and child have been announced.
