Powerball Championship Tickets — Worth Over $1 Billion — Sold in California

Winning Powerball jackpot tickets worth an estimated $1.08 billion have been sold in California, the sixth largest in US history and the third largest in gaming history.

The winning numbers for Wednesday night’s draw were 7, 10, 11, 13, 24 for the white balls and 24 for the red Powerball. The California Lottery announced on Twitter that the winning tickets were sold at the Las Palmitas Mini Market in Los Angeles.

The final ticket sales pushed the jackpot to $1.08 billion, surpassing the original estimate of $1 billion at the time of the draw, moving it from the seventh to sixth largest US lottery jackpot of all time.

Winners can choose between the full jackpot payout on an annual basis or a lump sum of $558.1 million pre-tax.

The game’s scary odds of 1 in 292.2 million are designed to generate big prizes that attract more players. Powerball’s biggest jackpot was his $2.04 billion Powerball in November.

The last time someone won the Powerball jackpot was on April 19th, with a top prize of around $253 million. Since then, no one has won the Grand Prix.

Powerball is played in 45 states, plus Washington DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
