DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The Dallas Mavericks start the fight for a place in the final of the Western Conference on Monday night, starting their top seven series against first-placed Phoenix Suns.

This is the first time since the 2011 championship that the Maws have reached the semifinals of the Western Conference. Head coach Jason Kidd said it would be a good test for the team to face the number one.

“They are the best team in the NBA,” he said. “They can put a lot of pressure on the defense and the end of the attack. There are a lot of guys who can hit the ball. Our hands are full and we hope we can keep the game close until the fourth half and find a way to do it. The winner.”

On the defensive side, Kidd focuses on the Sun’s strengths in mid-range strokes and three-point strokes in transition. This is, of course, different from their first-round strategy against the Utah Jazz, where they stop long-range shots while also limiting their chances inside the paint.

Devin Booker, Chris Paul, Deandre Ayton and the rest of the Phoenix team are no strangers to long postseason runs. Last year, they advanced to the NBA Finals before losing six games to last-time champion Milwaukee Bucks.

Dallas and Phoenix have met three times in a regular season, and Phoenix has won every match. However, Luka Doncic missed two of those games.

Unlike the Mavs’ first round match against Utah Jazz, Doncic will be ready for the first game. After returning from tension in his left leg, Doncic averaged 29 points in three games, scoring 46.9 percent from the field and 36.7 percent from the three-point line.

On April 28, 2022, during the 6th round of the playoffs of the 1st round of the Western Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah, the 77th player of the Dallas Mavericks Luka Doncic from the Utah Jazz team No. 23 Royce O’Neale passed.

“It’s going to be difficult,” Doncic said. “They are the number one team in the NBA. It will be very difficult for us. We have to play great games to beat them.”

Kidd believes Luke will be a double or triple team in this series many times, but he believes he will play well in any situation.

Jalen Brunson is one of the players who grew stronger during Doncic’s absence and hopes to continue his success against Phoenix. He scored 27.8 points and scored 48.4 goals against Jazz.

Maxi Kleber will try to keep his 3-point shooting efficiency at a high level and will make up more than half (51.6%) of his out-of-arc attempts so far this season in the post-season.

The consultation for the first game is scheduled for 21:00
