San Antonio Park police officer died of COVID-19, department says

San Antonio – Police officers in San Antonio Park died Sunday morning after the COVID-19 battle, police said on social media.

Officer Japenha began working as an officer of the Park Police in 2012 and was assigned to the Park Police Core Unit.

In a Facebook post, the department stated that Penha was “serving the citizens of San Antonio with dignity” and “an asset of the department.”

“Official Penha will be deeply missed. During this time, heartfelt thoughts and prayers will be offered to Penha’s family and friends,” said the Park Police.

Funeral arrangements are still pending at this time. We will continue to update this story as it becomes available.
