The author’s new novel, “August 28th, 2nd Year,” provides a way to see the threats the world faces and he faces. Rushdie explores those conflicts through ancient themes and epic magical events. Reviews call it “genius and the swirling story of genius” and “tremendously original and timely.” When you do math, the title is inspired by Rushdie’s favorite childhood parable, for a total of 1,001 nights. Rushdie participates in “CBS This Morning” to discuss his book and current events.
