Rio Anitta pop star becomes the first Brazilian to lead Spotify’s global charts

SAO PAULO (Reuters) – Rio de Janeiro pop star Anitta became the first Brazilian to lead Spotify’s daily world chart with her song “Envolver” on Friday.
The song reached number 1 on the daily list of the 50 best in the world after an online campaign of the singer and other Brazilian celebrities. “Wrap” has had 6.4 million views on Friday and 71.6 million since its November release.
Born in a slum in Rio de Janeiro, Anitta has become one of Brazil’s best-known pop stars. “Envolver”, sung in Spanish, instead of its native Portuguese, is part of its strategy to expand its brand worldwide.
“The number 1 in the world. I really don’t know what to say. THE FIRST LATIN WOMAN TO BE THE SINGLE NUMBER IN THE WORLD. The only Brazilian in the history of my country who has a song in the top 5 in the world. Oh my God,” she wrote on Twitter , after reaching the milestone.
“Wrap” ranked 19th on the Billboard Global 200 weekly chart, up from 82nd last week, making it the highest earner.
