Prince Charles ’annual income rose to £ 23 million last year.

The value of the Duchy of Cornwall’s assets was a record £ 1.2 billion.

The jump of almost £ 93 million in the previous year (just over 15%) was due to the Duchy’s “post-pandemic” rebound from stays and a record trading year.

The property is rich in land, property and investments, including the Isles of Scilly, the Oval Cricket Ground and Dartmoor Prison. Charles is entitled to a profit and voluntarily pays income tax.

The popularity of stays in the midst of the Covid crisis boosted the income of Duchy’s holiday homes with record bookings, while the Cornish Lostwithiel Duchy plant nursery also had a strong year.

Duchy’s total assets rose to £ 92,838,000 from £ 1,115,850,000 in 2020/2021 to £ 1,208,688,000 in 2021/22. The value of its net assets, which excludes loans, reached a record £ 1,049,069,000, more than £ 953,823,000.

Alastair Martin, Dukerri’s secretary and head of records, said: “This year has returned to more normal conditions and there has been a record financial performance.

“In fact, the bounce of the pandemic has been faster than we thought for many of our tenants, and therefore for us.

“A lot of people chose to stay in the UK on holiday and look for the quality offer we have on offer, with a record number of bookings and visits.”

Yesterday Charles joined the Queen in an unexpected public appearance at a special military event in Edinburgh.

In the gardens of Holyroodhouse Palace, more than 300 officers and bows from the Queen’s Body Guard of Scotland marched in a parade through Reddendo.

While the prince was inspecting his mother’s royal company, the 96-year-old monarch – who has had a number of health problems in recent months – looked bright.

Charitable donors who donated bags of money donated by a Qatari sheikh to the Prince of Wales have reported a “serious incident” to the Charity Commission.

The Prince of Wales Charity Fund received £ 2.5 million, which was donated three times to former Qatar Prime Minister Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Thani Charles between 2011 and 2015.

Last night the Charity Commission confirmed the news of the “report of serious incidents”, ranging from natural disasters to damaging charity work or fame.

But sources stressed that they saw it as a “procedural” move, given the circumstances, especially when a charity finds itself under massive media control.
