PBS’s Yamiche Alcindor downplays the border crisis and praises Biden for reuniting his separated family under Trump

Yamiche Alcindor takes advantage of PBS’s “Washington Week” debut for President Joe Biden’s “family reunion” at the southern border, downplaying the heightened immigration crisis under his administration. I praised it.

PBS was criticized last week for tapping a liberal reporter and hosting a show described as a combination of “depth, balance, and civil discourse.” Critics argued that Arsindor did not qualify for a gig because of his candid left-wing “activism.”

PBS correspondent Yamiche Alcindor hastened the Biden administration to defend Congressman Maxine Waters after Democrats urged people to “conflict” if Derek Chauvin was not convicted of the killing of George Floyd. I thought about the reason why it wasn’t. ..

In her first segment of the show on Friday, Arsindor erupted about the Biden administration’s “reunification of families separated at the southern border by former President Trump.” Current White House correspondents at PBS NewsHour later touched on Biden’s plans to combat the influx of immigrants, but could not blame his policy on the surge.

“There was big news about immigration this week. The Biden administration carried out some of the first reunifications of families separated in the South under former President Trump,” Arsindor told viewers. “These are very emotional scenes. These are really eye-catching scenes.”

Arsindor was defeated earlier this year by publicly calling Biden as a “moral and decent man” at his first solo press conference when asking about the same topic. Critics accused her of being “far left” at the time.

“You have repeatedly said that immigrants should not come to this country now … the message has not been received,” Arsindor assembled the question. “Instead, your perception of having you elected as a moral and decent person is why so many migrants come to this country and trust you as unaccompanied minors.”

Arsindor is also known for praising Biden in his first speech to the joint session of the United States and using anonymous sources to push Biden’s supporters’ points.

Sharon Percy Rockefeller, President and CEO of WETA, a PBS station in Washington, DC, said: “Yamish, one of the most respected voices in journalism today, is known for her command. Public policy issues and her brave work as a member of the White House Correspondents. Calm and tenacious. Now, she has covered some of the most important political stories of our time and has continued to show the highest standards of journalism. “
