On Thursday, Parliamentarian Tony Gonzalez led a delegation on a trip to Eagle Pass, talking to law enforcement officials and touring the Eagle Pass Detention Center.

Gonzales led a member of the Republican Study Committee on a trip. The committee includes IN-03 Chairman Jim Banks. Kelly Armstrong, ND-AL; Kevin Hahn, OK-01; Ashley Hinson, IA-01; Chris Jacobs, New York-27; Lloyd Smucker, PA-11; and Victoria Spartz, IN-05.
The trip took place amid a surge in the number of unaccompanied youth across the US-Mexico border. This situation has been criticized by Republicans in Texas and the United States.
On Wednesday, Governor Greg Abbott called for the closure of the Freeman Coliseum, a temporary housing for migrant children in San Antonio, on allegations of sexual abuse, staff shortages and COVID-related concerns.
