Ancient Olympics, Greece (Reuters) – Four Tibetan activists were taken from outside the ruins of ancient Olympia and detained on Monday, an hour before the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics torch lighting ceremony began.

A spokesman for the activist group said the activist, three women and one man, were taken to the police station in ancient Olympia. A spokeswoman said he had never protested or spread the banner.

An official at the ancient Olympia police station told Reuters that the four were detained but not arrested.

“I still don’t know how it will develop,” said a police officer. “At this time, we cannot provide any further information.”

Two human rights activists were arrested in protest in Athens on Sunday. They spread the Tibetan flag and raised the flag from the Acropolis monument with the words “Freedom Hong Kong-Revolution”.

More protests are expected when the flames are handed over to the organizers of the Beijing Games in Athens on Tuesday.

China’s capital will be the first city to host both the Winter and Summer Olympics when hosting the event from February 4th to 20th, but in the face of protests, a boycott over national human rights records The call is hurting preparations.
