(Reuters) – The huge 2024 Paris flag was hung on the top of the Eiffel Tower on Tuesday as the French capital is preparing for a delivery ceremony at the end of the Tokyo Olympics.
The official delivery of the Olympic flag will be one of the highlights of the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo on August 8.
To celebrate the Olympic Games in France, the organizers of Paris 2024 will open an open space in the Trocadero Gardens to offer sports and festive activities during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
A large test at the Eiffel Tower on Tuesday was the first to experience the expectations of the delivery ceremony.
“Within less than 50 days before the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Games, we are thinking about the Japanese Championships and are looking forward to the start of the Games.
“Like the Olympic and Paralympic athletes, the 2024 Paris Games are preparing for Tokyo.
“Today was just a test, but we invite the French public and the rest of the world to attend the first Paris 2024 ceremony on August 8.”
The Tokyo 2020 Games, which had been postponed for one year due to the effects of the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), are scheduled to start on July 23.
