No. 15 Princeton Beats Arizona in 2023 NCAA Tournament

March Madness got off to a crazy start.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The 15th-seeded Princeton Tigers defeated the No. 2 Arizona Wildcats, 59-55, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Tosan Evbuomwan and Princeton capitalized on a late-game run on Thursday as they beat second-seeded Arizona 59-55 to win the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 25 years for the school.

The 15th-seeded Tigers (22-9) ended the upset with a final nine points to keep the Pac-12 tournament champions scoreless in the final 4:21.

Evbuomwan scored 15 points in Princeton’s first tournament win since current coach Mitch Henderson defeated UNLV in 1998 when he was a Tigers player.

Princeton will face No. 7-seeded Missouri on Saturday. Mizzou won his first NCAA Tournament game in 13 years, beating Utah State 76-65.

Azuolas Tubelis scored 21 points for the Wildcats (28-7), who have not won a tournament game in a row since 2014-15.

It’s not the first upset of the 2023 NCAA Tournament. Furman delivered a stunning first-round loss to No. 4 seed Virginia.
